If you're starting Anime Paradox on release or have just joined after early access, the game can feel confusing quickly. Banners may look tempting, traits can seem impossible to obtain, and half of the modes don't even explain their purpose. This guide walks you through the cleanest beginner path so you don't waste gems, rerolls, or time.
This is written from a starter → midgame → early endgame perspective, not from someone already sitting on multiple secrets.
First 10 Minutes – What to Do Immediately
As soon as you log in, redeem every available code. At launch, there are usually very few—sometimes only one—but even that matters because early gems determine your entire starting experience.
After redeeming codes, claim the free unit hidden in the lobby (climbing spots and freebies are common in Anime Paradox). This unit alone won’t carry you through the game, but it gives you something to place while you roll.
Now comes the important part: do not spam the banner blindly.
The standard banner early on is extremely misleading. Most legendaries appear flashy but have short durations. You're not rolling to build a perfect team yet; you're rolling to obtain one or two mythics that can clear story content and unlock new features.
Best Units for a Clean Start
Your priority mythic units should include:
- Broly: One of the best beginner mythics. He has wide area-of-effect (AoE) damage, strong offensive capabilities without requiring perfect traits, and can easily clear story stages.
- Kilawa: More single-target focused than Broly, but an excellent boss killer. Retain Kilawa if you pull him early.
- Cell: Highly underrated for beginners. Evolving Cell is now significantly easier compared to early access, and he becomes one of the game's top tanks. A combination of Cell and one DPS unit can clear nearly the entire story.
If you pull any two of these units, you will be well-prepared for early progression. Do not concern yourself with suboptimal traits early on; even a trait like Blessing is sufficient to complete story content.
Story Progression
Once you have one or two evolved mythic units, immediately advance through Story Mode. Story progression unlocks:
- Challenges
- Nightmare difficulty
- Legend stages
- Improved gem income
You can realistically clear the entire Normal Story with just Cell and one DPS mythic, even without favorable traits.
After completing the story, proceed directly to Challenges.
Challenges
Challenges are one of the most important systems for beginners.
Focus on:
- Quick Challenges
- Daily Challenges
- Hourly Challenges
These provide:
- Evolution materials
- Trait rerolls
- Gold
- Essences
Evolution was previously resource-intensive but has been significantly nerfed. Currently, evolving one or two units early is very achievable. A common mistake among beginners is wasting trait rerolls early; avoid this.
Nightmare Mode
Once you have two evolved mythic units, Nightmare Mode becomes manageable. Nightmare stages offer:
- Better rewards
- Preparation for Legend stages
- Requirements for efficient farming
Clear Nightmare Mode only after evolving units, not before. Attempting it too early will slow your progress.
The Easiest Secret to Obtain – Ichigo
This is the single most important tip for beginners. Ichigo is the easiest secret unit to acquire in Anime Paradox. He can be farmed from Legend Stage 3 with an approximate 2% drop rate, which is exceptionally high compared to banner pulls. Many players obtain Ichigo before securing their second or third mythic.
- To farm Ichigo efficiently:
- Evolve two mythic units
- Farm Legend Stage 3
- Save all trait rerolls for Ichigo
- Do not reroll traits on other units
Once acquired, Ichigo dramatically accelerates your progression. He is an SSS-tier unit and remains effective even without perfect traits.
Leveling Units
Do not rely on feeding units for experience (XP); feeding provides minimal value. The optimal way to level units is:
- Include them in your active team
- Clear stages normally
XP is shared globally across your team, meaning simply playing the game levels all units faster than feeding. Consider stat rerolls only once a unit reaches level 50.
Trait Reroll Farming
Trait rerolls are extremely rare and crucial. Best early sources include:
- Challenges
- Nightmare clears
- Legend stages
- Milestones
Prioritize saving rerolls for Ichigo. Do not reroll Broly, Cell, or Kilawa early unless Ichigo is already built. Good traits are difficult to obtain, so average traits are sufficient for progression.
Raids, Siege & True Endgame
After obtaining Ichigo, the game opens up further:
- Raids: Used to farm Sunjin Wu
- Siege: Used to farm Igris (currently very challenging)
- Raid Shop: A major source of rerolls and materials
Sunjin Wu is farmable and highly powerful. Igris is potent, but Siege is currently endgame-only and not beginner-friendly. Do not stress about Sid or Star units; their acquisition rates are absurdly low and they are not part of a standard progression path.
