Regretevator Characters: Complete Guide to Every NPC

Meet every Regretevator character—from elevator regulars like Bive and Split to villains like MR and Folly. Full lore, hidden mechanics, reputation system, and character backstories revealed.

Regretevator Characters: Complete Guide to Every NPC

If you've ridden the elevator in Regretevator for more than a few floors, you've probably noticed something weird. The NPCs aren't just window dressing. They talk. They fight. They hold grudges. And some of them will straight-up kill you if you click them too many times.

I've spent way too long digging through the game's lore, testing character interactions, and mapping out who hates who. This guide covers every Regretevator character you'll meet—the regulars, the villains, the shopkeepers, and the ones with tragic backstories you'd never guess from their silly designs.

Let's get into it.

How Regretevator Characters Actually Work

Before we start naming names, here's what you need to know about Regretevator characters in general.

The game has over 80 NPCs. Not all of them show up equally. Some are elevator regulars—you'll see them almost every run. Others are rare spawns or tied to specific floors. The game also uses a color-coded name system in spectator mode that tells you:

  1. Who can enter the elevator (most can, some can't)
  2. Who's hostile (red names usually mean trouble)
  3. Rarity tiers (some characters only appear under specific conditions)

On top of that, there's a hidden reputation system. Your actions inside the elevator—pushing NPCs, using spray paint, helping injured characters—change how certain Regretevator characters treat you over time.

Now let's meet the cast.

Core Elevator Regulars: The Characters You'll See Most

These Regretevator characters show up constantly. They have the most dialogue, the deepest lore, and the most complex relationships with each other.

Bive – The Blue Conspiracy Theorist

Bive is a blue-skinned paranoid wreck who believes everyone is out to get her. She constantly shares wild theories about the elevator, the players, and "the民兵" (whatever that means). Her friendship with Split is one of the few things that calms her down.

Split – The Pun-Loving Banana-Snail-Dog

Split is half banana, half snail, half dog (yes, that's three halves). She's energetic, loves terrible puns, and has an implied mutual crush on Bive. Her jokes are intentionally bad, but they work wonders for Bive's anxiety.

Pest – The Grumpy Beetle Ex-Con

Pest has a bad attitude and a worse past. He was locked in prison until DrRETRO broke him out. Now he rides the elevator, still angry, but free. During competitive events, having Pest in the elevator gives you +1 gold per player attack. He once stole from Poob but refuses to steal from Enphoso—something about the shopkeeper creeps him out.

PartyNoob (Poob) – The Celebration Enthusiast

Poob loves parties. What he doesn't love is being clicked repeatedly or hit with a hair dryer. Do either, and he instantly teleports to you and kills you. No warning. No second chance. He's also terrified of NULL, who's been trying to capture him.

Gnarpy – The Four-Armed Alien Cat

Green, arrogant, and mean. Gnarpy has four arms, cat features, and zero remorse. She's the reason Spud! is the way he is now—she kidnapped Frank, experimented on him, and threw him in a trash can when things went wrong.

Lampert – The Lamp-Headed Robot

Fast, mechanical, and surprisingly agile. Lampert used to be friends with Infected before the pink virus changed everything. He's also disgusted by Unpleasant's smell and will demand the creature hide in a corner.

Infected – The Pink Virus Victim

Infected was once someone named Kasper. Then he clicked a free model infected with "pink virus" and lost everything—his memories, his identity, his old self. Now he's a tragic Regretevator character who doesn't even know who he used to be.

Wallter – The Concrete Gentleman

Wallter is made of concrete, loves classical music, and carries himself like a mature adult. He was once married to Mannequin Mark. They're divorced now. The occasional awkward conversation between them hints at a complicated past.

Mannequin Mark – The Living Mannequin

Mark escaped a cult called "The Great One" and somehow ended up as a living mannequin in the elevator. He was married to Wallter. They don't talk about it.

Hostile & Story-Critical Regretevator Characters

These Regretevator characters drive the game's darker storylines. They're not just quirky elevator passengers—they have agendas.

MR – The Main Villain (A Possessed Rock)

MR looks like a rock. But inside that rock is a fallen god. MR burns other NPCs inside the elevator, manipulates events from the shadows, and serves as the game's primary antagonist. Mach is one of the few characters who can actually kill him.

Folly – The Nightmare Parasite

Folly used to be called "The Dreamer." She protected forests and absorbed people's anxiety to maintain balance. Then her creator betrayed her. Now she's a parasite that feeds on fear and death. She works under MR, hoping to find a way to die for real.

NULL – The Robot Enforcer

NULL is a sentient robot working for MR. His main job? Capture PartyNoob. Poob knows this and stays far away whenever NULL shows up. NULL's presence alone changes the dynamic of any elevator run.

Mach – The Purple Executioner

Mach carries a massive hammer and hunts hostile creatures like Banrey. She's neutral toward players but ruthless toward threats. She's also one of the very few Regretevator characters who can defeat MR outside the elevator—her code lets her do things other NPCs can't.

Functional & Shopkeeper Regretevator Characters

Not every character is here for drama. Some just run shops or patch up wounds.

DrRETRO – The Yellow Pixel Cat Medic

DrRETRO is a pixelated yellow cat head who heals injured NPCs. She rescued Pest from prison and genuinely cares about other characters. But if you harass her, she'll fight back. She's a healer, not a punching bag.

Shopkeepers – Enphoso, Crem, and Sebastian Solace

  1. Enphoso – Appears in shop spaces. Pest is afraid of him for unknown reasons.
  2. Crem – Runs an ice cream shop inside the elevator.
  3. Sebastian Solace – Shows up during the "Retrorade" crossover event.

Hidden Lore Behind Regretevator Characters

The more time you spend with Regretevator characters, the more you realize how much backstory is buried in their dialogue.

Spud!'s Tragedy

Spud! wasn't always a mess. His real name is Frank. He was a normal blue-collar worker investigating a green light at the "Two Stud Camp" when Gnarpy kidnapped him. The experiments failed, and Gnarpy dumped him in a trash can. His broken speech and cracked shell? That's trauma.

Folly's Fall

Already covered above, but worth repeating: Folly was a protector. Her creator threw her away. Now she's a monster who wants to die. One of the saddest Regretevator characters when you actually read her story.

STAT (Alicia Marise) – The Rude One

STAT acts rude and dismissive toward players for a reason. Her entire home world was destroyed by "players." All her friends died. She's not mean—she's grieving.

Wallter and Mannequin Mark's Divorce

They don't broadcast it, but their ex-relationship pops up in dialogue. Wallter is a concrete sculptor. Mark is a cult escapee. It didn't work out.

Special Interaction Mechanics You Need to Know

Regretevator characters don't just stand there. They react.

PartyNoob's "Party Etiquette"

Click Poob repeatedly or use a hair dryer on him. He kills you instantly. No cooldown, no escape. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Pest's Money Trick

During competitive events, every time you hit another player while Pest is in the elevator, you get +1 extra gold. Abuse this.

DrRETRO's Dual Nature

Healer and fighter. She'll patch up injured NPCs but also punish players who annoy her.

Unpleasant's Social Debuff

Getting too close to Unpleasant gives you the Paranoia effect—blurry vision, heartbeat sounds. Most NPCs hate Unpleasant because of the smell.

Mach's Protector Code

She hunts Banrey and other hostiles. And yes, she can kill MR. That's not common knowledge, but it's in her code.

Bive and Split's Bond

Bive trusts Split more than anyone. She constantly asks if Split is "with the民兵." Split uses bad puns to calm her down. It's weirdly sweet.

The Hidden Reputation System

Here's something most players miss. Regretevator characters track how you treat them.

Raise reputation:

  1. Complete daily tasks (from Zach and others)
  2. Use rose petals on NPCs you like
  3. Heal injured characters

Lower reputation:

  1. Spray paint everywhere
  2. Push NPCs repeatedly
  3. Wield weapons near them

Your reputation changes dialogue and might affect which characters help or ignore you later.
