How to Unlock Dullahan in Heroes Battlegrounds
Let's be real—Heroes Battlegrounds Dullahan isn't available right now. The devs removed him after Christmas because, well, Halloween event. But when he does come back, here's exactly how it worked before:
Wait for the Pumpkin Moon. Every 75 minutes in public servers, the sky turns orange. That's your sign.
Once that happens, you've got to find four pieces scattered across the map:
- His armor
- His head
- His greatsword
- His horse
Find all four, and boom—you're the Pumpkin King. The game even gives you a little message: "Dullahan rises once again... Kill, the Pumpkin King, for rewards!"
And when you finally die (because you will), it tracks your kills: "Dullahan's ghost rests... the Pumpkin King, has died! They managed to gather (X) Souls!"
Best Characters to Farm Dullahan Pieces
Other players are hunting for those pieces too, so speed matters. From grinding the event last year, these two worked best:
Mastered Green Hero – His awakening move dashes forward and speeds up. Great for covering ground fast.
Full Throttle – Honestly, this might be even better. Both base and awakening have moves that push you forward. You'll outrun everyone fighting over the same pieces.
Dullahan Moveset Breakdown
Once you unlock Heroes Battlegrounds Dullahan, here's what you're dealing with. Fair warning—this moveset is stacked.
Base Moveset (Moonlight)
Harrowing Tearing (M1s)
- Damage: 20% per hit
- Cooldown: ~0.5 seconds
- He swings up, left, thrusts his sword down, then ends with a spinning diagonal swing. The animation alone messes with people's timing.
Rise of Pumpkins
- Damage: 34.1%
- Cooldown: 45 seconds
- Plunge your sword down, flames spread, and BOOM—orange/blue explosion sends everyone flying. Plus you get two pumpkin minions that actually help. They use Winged Assassin's M1 sound effect, which is a nice touch.
Soul Harvest
- Damage: 15% (first slash), 25% (second slash without burn)
- Cooldown: 45 seconds
- Flames surround you during startup, then you swing left. Hit it, raise your sword, collect souls, and finish with a spin. You can miss the second slash on purpose to extend combos. Also drains a bit of their ultimate meter—even if they're already in ult mode.
Ghost Rider
- Damage: 12.7% per swing, 43.6% on final land
- Cooldown: 60 seconds
- Your horse appears and roars (knocks people back but no damage). You ride around swinging, flinging anyone caught. When it ends, your horse roars again as you jump up and plunge down with that same explosion. Flashiest move in his kit, hands down.
False Sun
- Damage: 21% per pumpkin
- Cooldown: 40 seconds
- Your eyes glow orange/blue, and flame pumpkins auto-aim at nearby enemies. Hold it and they keep tracking. Tap it and nothing happens—your eyes just glow. Inflicts burn too. Might be a Demon Slayer reference (Hinokami Kagura = False Sun), or maybe False Rainbow/Cruel Sun. Community's split on this one.
Dullahan Pros and Cons
I've played a lot of characters in this game. Heroes Battlegrounds Dullahan hits different.
Pros
- Every move is uninterruptable once startup finishes. You're landing those hits.
- False Sun auto-aims and chunks health. Parkour spammers? Don't matter. Pumpkins find them.
- Rise of Pumpkins minions interrupt people trying to combo you. Free backup.
Cons
- Zero i-Frames after moves end. Miss and you're wide open.
- Some moves are punishable. Know when to dip.
Dullahan Trivia & Hidden Details
The devs packed little touches into Heroes Battlegrounds Dullahan. If you're a fan, you'll appreciate these:
- Try emoting as him. The game says: "Sorry, you cannot emote as Dullahan. Sorry, too many bugs." Classic dev humor.
- Hit a 10 killstreak and you unlock Horseman's Call—a special emote.
- VIP Effect Color changes his move effects. Makes those flames pop.
- False Sun debate continues—Demon Slayer reference or something else? Your guess is as good as mine.
- Dullahan has more HP than The Prototype. Someone tested this by surviving a NUKE without dropping to critical health. Theory? Around 1,000 HP.
